Very proactive and flexible. Knows the market in Western suburbs very well, particular Clarendon Hills/Hinsdale. He was very timely and responsive. Was very proficient in adjusting to our price range and had a great feel for properties that we were likely to be of interest to us.

I’ve worked with Brent on a number of occasions and have found him to be very knowledgeable, personable and creative. Not only does he have his finger on the pulse of several geographical markets, but also offers a quality network of associates from electricians, plumbers, bankers and other agents. He’s genuinely active ‘after the sale’ and helps to find solutions and people should a project or problem arise. I’d recommend Brent and use him again.

Brent Hyland of Hyland Homes did an extensive remodel of our Glen Ellyn home in 2011. Overall, we were extremely pleased with both the aesthetic result and the real estate value that Hyland Homes brought to this project.

Our project was a complete remodel- from a cottage style home to a Nantucket style home. The house was originally built in the 1930’s. We came to Brent with some very basic conceptual ideas of what we wanted our “ideal home” to look like. We knew we liked the Nantucket style, but did not have a clear idea of what the exterior or floor plan should look like. Prior to even having an architect involved, Brent pretty much created the design of our home with some rough draft drawings that transformed our concepts into a reality. Brent was very creative in both the structural aspects and the interior design details (layout/ finishes/fixtures).

This project presented a number of challenges. A remodeling project for a home that was built in 1930 (with no architectural plans) will always come with some surprises. You just don’t know what you will find when you start breaking through walls. We ran into many structural, mechanical, and other issues that required design changes “on the fly”. Brent is extremely skilled at adapting in these situations and he turned almost every challenge into a solution that made the end result better than the original plan.

From a value perspective- I can simply say that we feel we received incredible value by working with Hyland homes. Brent has put together a great team of sub-contractors that provided high quality work. Custom cabinet work, masonry, custom trim, architectural elements- the list goes on. We would visit the house daily during construction and it was obvious that all the trades took pride in their work. Maybe just importantly is they all show up when they are supposed to- there were almost zero delays in our project and it was an extensive project. Every room had custom work, and Brent was able to provide these customized upgrades without impacting the budget significantly.

One of the most important factors I would like to convey with this review is that Brent is great to work with. He is extremely knowledgeable in every phase of the project- design, construction, permitting….etc. He is very creative and thinks outside the box. He handles changes, issues, and challenges extremely well- and quickly. He gets the job done and stands behind his work down the detail. If you are thinking about building or a remodel, I would highly recommend that you meet with Brent for a consultation and you can see for yourself. I truly feel that he was looking out for our best interests throughout this project.

Brent is very good. He worked with us to make our kitchen renovation exactly what I imagined. He was flexible, helpful, and accommodating. He solved a lot of tricky problems, including moving venting, raising floors, patching in hardwood, and re-plumbing many areas. The sub contractors he uses are fantastic too. Almost 2 years later, no issues, and it looks terrific!

We hired Hyland Homes two years ago to renovate our kitchen and family room. Brent and his team were extremely professional, reliable, and trustworthy. (Key qualities to a positive renovation experience, especially when you have kids.) Our Arts & Crafts renovation had a few surprises and required some “out of the box” thinking. My husband and I were very impressed with their creative solutions. The quality of their work and level of dedication to the job is amazing!! They actually made renovating “fun”! We are so glad we chose Hyland Homes and highly recommend them to all our friends. Finding the right contractor is a project in itself and you won’t be disappointed with this team!
