I feel silly giving all 5 stars, but that was truly our experience with Brent Hyland. We listed our home at a very difficult time with him & Brent worked very hard to sell our home. He gave us sound advice, was constantly bringing potential buyers & other realtors into our home. Selling a home is always emotional but Brent was so professional, hardworking and kind.
I would recommend his services to sell or buy a home in the area!

I’ve worked with Brent on a number of occasions and have found him to be very knowledgeable, personable and creative. Not only does he have his finger on the pulse of several geographical markets, but also offers a quality network of associates from electricians, plumbers, bankers and other agents. He’s genuinely active ‘after the sale’ and helps to find solutions and people should a project or problem arise. I’d recommend Brent and use him again.

Brent is an excellent Real Estate Agent who spent countless hours working for us to find our home. After we changed directions and hit a couple of major road blocks, Brent’s detailed knowledge of the housing market and his commitment to finding the right place helped us see it through. Brent also went out of his way to provide services that we felt were above and beyond.
Brent Hyland of Hyland Homes did an extensive remodel of our Glen Ellyn home in 2011. Overall, we were extremely pleased with both the aesthetic result and the real estate value that Hyland Homes brought to this project.
Our project was a complete remodel- from a cottage style home to a Nantucket style home. The house was originally built in the 1930’s. We came to Brent with some very basic conceptual ideas of what we wanted our “ideal home” to look like. We knew we liked the Nantucket style, but did not have a clear idea of what the exterior or floor plan should look like. Prior to even having an architect involved, Brent pretty much created the design of our home with some rough draft drawings that transformed our concepts into a reality. Brent was very creative in both the structural aspects and the interior design details (layout/ finishes/fixtures).
This project presented a number of challenges. A remodeling project for a home that was built in 1930 (with no architectural plans) will always come with some surprises. You just don’t know what you will find when you start breaking through walls. We ran into many structural, mechanical, and other issues that required design changes “on the fly”. Brent is extremely skilled at adapting in these situations and he turned almost every challenge into a solution that made the end result better than the original plan.
From a value perspective- I can simply say that we feel we received incredible value by working with Hyland homes. Brent has put together a great team of sub-contractors that provided high quality work. Custom cabinet work, masonry, custom trim, architectural elements- the list goes on. We would visit the house daily during construction and it was obvious that all the trades took pride in their work. Maybe just importantly is they all show up when they are supposed to- there were almost zero delays in our project and it was an extensive project. Every room had custom work, and Brent was able to provide these customized upgrades without impacting the budget significantly.
One of the most important factors I would like to convey with this review is that Brent is great to work with. He is extremely knowledgeable in every phase of the project- design, construction, permitting….etc. He is very creative and thinks outside the box. He handles changes, issues, and challenges extremely well- and quickly. He gets the job done and stands behind his work down the detail. If you are thinking about building or a remodel, I would highly recommend that you meet with Brent for a consultation and you can see for yourself. I truly feel that he was looking out for our best interests throughout this project.
[We] can’t recommend Hyland Homes enough. We remodeled two floors of our home with kitchen, two baths, and opened 3 walls and they knocked it out of the park. Brent also has a great idea for design and is a great listener. We gave some ideas of what we would like and he came back with perfect plan that he and his team executed. The one comment we continue to hear from our friends and family is how nice the quality of work they did. We will be using his team for our basement in the near future. Highly recommend Hyland Homes!
Brent is very good. He worked with us to make our kitchen renovation exactly what I imagined. He was flexible, helpful, and accommodating. He solved a lot of tricky problems, including moving venting, raising floors, patching in hardwood, and re-plumbing many areas. The sub contractors he uses are fantastic too. Almost 2 years later, no issues, and it looks terrific!
We had an excellent experience with Brent. He knows the area and market second to none. Before we would even look at homes he knew the streets, where it would be in the town, and if that is an area we want to be. Also, knew the school systems very well and knew them from grade school and up. Additionally, he was a good listener. We gave him ideas of our style early on and he was all over it. Always available and very responsive.
Overall, we had an excellent and easy experience with Brent. We would highly recommend him to anyone.
We hired Hyland Homes to work with us on a complete gut of a master bathroom. I will admit I did not know what I wanted for the room. Brent was great with providing me with suggestions. Additionally, he provided a detailed accurate estimate of the cost. His subcontractors were wonderful- prompt and professional. The tiler was an artesian. Additionally, he addressed all my concerns throughout the project in a prompt manner. I would highly recommend Brent to anyone.
We hired Hyland Homes two years ago to renovate our kitchen and family room. Brent and his team were extremely professional, reliable, and trustworthy. (Key qualities to a positive renovation experience, especially when you have kids.) Our Arts & Crafts renovation had a few surprises and required some “out of the box” thinking. My husband and I were very impressed with their creative solutions. The quality of their work and level of dedication to the job is amazing!! They actually made renovating “fun”! We are so glad we chose Hyland Homes and highly recommend them to all our friends. Finding the right contractor is a project in itself and you won’t be disappointed with this team!
There are three words I would use to describe Brent: honest, prompt, and knowledgeable. We hired Brent to refinish our basement, which had flooded from the previous owners and renovate our master bedroom and bathroom, which had major structural and floor issues.
The first thing he did was assess the situation and because of his experience and knowledge in real estate, he also talked to us about what changes would be most beneficial to us if we decided to sell at a later time. He then drafted an estimate of the project, including details about what would be done and at what time. Throughout the project, if we ever had a question, he was prompt in his reply and very upfront, which we thought was very important.

Basement: drywall (new closet), electrical, HVAC, painting, and carpet
Bedroom/Bathroom: drywall (most of the drywall was removed due to a complete new layout in the bathroom with new closets), HVAC, electrical, tiling, doorless shower, windows, painting, hardwood floors in the bedroom, installation of sliding door, and a designed, tiled wall going into the shower
We’ve had a few different people do projects at our house prior to Brent and none of them even came close to the professionalism, knowledge, and execution that Brent and his team displayed. I would highly recommend Brent to anyone.
